it used to work before. it was working until i changed my video card. when i changed the card and opened my pc, my computer didn't detect any cd roms but the bios can. does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem? My computer cant detect cd rom but bios can?
Depends.
Your Optical drive could be shot, but the firmware onboard it might respond to the BIOS... meaning that as far as the BIOS is concerned the drive works, but as far as windows is concerned, it is dead.
OR
It might be an Upper Filter installed in the drivers, typically left behind by iTunes. You would look at the driver details in the properties of the optical drive in Device Manager, providing it shows up in Device Manager.
OR
You could have blown a capacitor or three on your motherboard.
But no matter what it *could* be... what it DEFINITELY is, is time to bring it to a repair shop. Let someone who knows what they are doing, take a look at it.My computer cant detect cd rom but bios can?
