How do you upgrade your ram and video card for better performance on the PC do I have to go and buy stuff?

I play the sims game and I want my computer game to be faster and it says to have a bigger RAM and a good video card or something and I dont know if this is something that needs to be installed or do i have to make changes within the computer to do so.How do you upgrade your ram and video card for better performance on the PC do I have to go and buy stuff?
You would have to purchase new components to upgrade the RAM and video, although it really depends on what kind of computer you have now. Most desktop computers do have expansion slots to upgrade, but some don't. Some computer motherboards have integrated audio/video/network components that should be disabled if you're going to upgrade. The form factor of your board could also be an issue. Check with the manufacturer of your computer to see if this is an option or if you have a custom made computer, get in contact with whoever built it. Some parts houses will install your hardware for a fee, so if you're not familiar with hardware installation, I'd recommend you have someone do it for you. Also, check your SIMS game to see what the recommended computer hardware configuration is. If your computer is upgradeable, make sure whatever you buy matches that. Good luck. How do you upgrade your ram and video card for better performance on the PC do I have to go and buy stuff?
Not knowing what your current system is wont get you a very good answer!
It depends on your mother board. If it's at its full capacity, you may not be able to upgrade it.

You should check your motherboards or computers user guide. They usually tell you how to upgrade properly, including what parts you need.
If it's a laptop, you can upgrade your RAM but not video card. If it's a desktop, you can upgrade both RAM and video card. I recommend at least 1GB of RAM and at least a 256MB video card.
You have to go buy memory/ram and other hardware on your own.

This is all providing your PC can be upgraded.
yes, it's something that needs to be installed.

You'll need to go out and purchase more memory and a better video card than what you have now. You'll need to know the specs of your current configuration before buying anything new.

I suggest you have someone who knows about compeuter, check it out for you.
the ram are cards you install inside the computer if it has spare slots if no spares replace what is there with bigger ones you kind of need to know what you have to make sure you are getting the right ones as far as the video card it too is just going out and buying a better one and installing it
You need to make changes inside. Buy another graphics card (be careful to check the type you have installed now - AGP or PCI-E in order to buy 1 with the same interface), and also buy another RAM module (check the type you've got before u buy - DDR or DDR2).

Just to tell you yesterday I've upgraded my RAM and Graphics Card! :)
What you need to do is find a friend that knows the 1st thing about computers and ask him to help you.
