What graphics card/slot do I need ?

I want to get a Nvidia 8600 video card or higher, to play CSS %26amp; COD4. But i've realised most require a PCI-E slot, I only have a PCI slot =[

Would it be better to get a compatible video card or change slots ?

If change slots, how can I change from a PCI to a PCI-E ?

If get a different card that is PCI.... which cards would be best, that are of the quality of a Nvidia 8600 ?

Thanks!What graphics card/slot do I need ?
PCI and PCI-E are totally different slots. You need to change your motherboard to one that has PCI-EXPRESS 16 slot for VGA.

If your motherboard doesn't have PCI-EX16, then it must have AGP 8x graphic card......and that's pretty old. Plus, Gefore 8600 needs at least 400w of power supply ( I think, ) so you should consider getting a brand new computer with duel processors.

Conclusion : Just getting a new vga won't work, regarding your current computer. Get a new computer or do not get anything at all. What graphics card/slot do I need ?
you can't ';upgrade'; a PCI slot to a PCIe slot. you can only aquire a new PCIe slot by replacing your motherboard. And naturally that would lead to a new CPU and RAM. Harddrives, disk drives, sound cards can probably be saved and carried forward.

any PCI graphics card you get to use your old regular PCI slots will be dino-rific antiques for your needs. If you have an AGP slot...you can get a lower-end (but current) graphics card for that, that MIGHT squeeze you past minimum system requirements. but it won't be pretty.
