NVIDIA Graphics Card - Change Dedicated Video Memory?

Hey!

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT running on Windows Vista.

When I look at my Display Settings it says the following:

Total Available Graphics Memory: 1023 MB

Dedicated Video Memory: 256 MB

System Video Memory: 0 MB

Shared System Memory: 767 MB

Is there a way that I could increase the Dedicated Video Memory by taking some from the Shared System Memory?

The reason I want to do this is so that I can play GTA IV at a higher quality and still receive smooth gameplay.

Is this possible? If so, how do I go about doing so?

Thanks!NVIDIA Graphics Card - Change Dedicated Video Memory?
No you can't sorry - they a physically different.

';Dedicated'; memory lives on the gfx card itself. While ';system'; memory (shareable or otherwise) refers to your PCs actually memory/RAM which is used for everything.

The reason gfx cards need ';dedicated'; memory is so they can access it when they need to - they really need to move stuff in memory around quickly so ';sharing'; the main PC memory isn't so practical

';Shared System Memory'; is exactly what it sounds like however - it means that your gfx card will use your PC's 768 MB of RAM if it runs out of it's own dedicated memory anywayNVIDIA Graphics Card - Change Dedicated Video Memory?
You have a graphics chip set on your motherboard, not a graphics ';card';. The setting you are looking for is in the BIOS setup for your machine. At boot up, strike the key the screen indicates to enter the BIOS - follow the menu to find this setting, change it to what you want, save and exit.
Just get a card with more VRAM, which is video memory.
Right i have got the same problem i got a 8600gt and whats doing my head in is that i am trying to play gta iv on vista and it only gives me 128mb Dedicated video but here is the twist i got a dual boot pc with windows xp home sp3 and when i play it on xp it gives the full 512mb even the game runs faster on xp So sure thers some thing you can do to vista to make it faster !!

I WOULD TRY A HAMMER BUT CAN NOT AFORD THE REPAIR BILL
