Wanting to change my video card?

So right now I have an Nvidia quadro FX 1400, which I got maybe 2-3 years ago. It's decent, but recently I've been noticing my games tend to have performance issues if I run them on high or even medium settings. Some games, like Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance have to be run on the bare minimum in anything larger than a 3-4 person NON-ONLINE game.

So I've been looking at various video cards and would like some help in finding/choosing some. Are there certain video cards I can't use? Like GeForce vs ATi Radeon? I seem to remember having issues of non-compatability with one, can't remember which. How do I find out?

Any tips on a card that may be in the range of $50? Or a reliable website I can look at myself? Thanks!Wanting to change my video card?
that is a 3D pro application card not for gaimming (a$340 card) get an 8800 gt http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009IAVUC?smid follow the links on this site to some good cardsWanting to change my video card?
ati 9200 best for the price
your quadro is made for video editing its not designed for gaming if your looking at newer games for 50 bucks your not going to find much and the ati and nividia thing shouldn't really matter on something under 50 but id stick with a nvidia myself

But that would be a down grade from where your at look at the price range of 100 to 150 for a 8600 or possibly a 8800
looks pretty bad for the 50 range! but looks good for the 75 range! ati 1650pro is 64.99$ , a slightly better card the gefoce 8500gt is 64.99$ , but the gem here is the 2600pr radeon, dx10 compatible, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as

if you can afford it for 94.99$ this 8600gt is the the step, before cards really start to rise in prices. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as

after you find a card goto http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2

there you will find how all cards stack up
