Great question and thank you for participating. Yes, you could possibly have a video card that has gone bad, however, it's more common that your ram memory has gone dirty and could be causing the problem. You might should try to swap it out first before trying another video card. Hope this helps, Larry.My computer dont have a picture at all it says no signal i cant change video cards cause mine dont auto?
check your connections, if necessary unplug and replug the screen
try altering the BIOS that has the word devices or PCI devices... try looking for the bios setup about video card.... coz some motherboard doesnt detect the agp or pci video card automatically....
If you are trying to install a PCI video card (Not PCI-e) make sure the card in in the PCI slot closest to the processor.
Hoping you have Windows XP (Pro would be nice!) and also assuming that you can see the initial splash screen.. the one setup by the ROM.

In which you can do this...

Restart your PC (or start your PC). Soon after, the initial screen is splashed it should display something like F10=to enter setup etc... Press F8 intermittently, say about once every second. It might take a few restarts before you get this right. Eventually, as WinXP attempts to start, it will display a few startup options.

When you do get to it, select ';safe mode'; and press enter. When you finally do get into WinXP, right click on ';my computer'; (oh! your display will all be completely screwed up... at this point your PC is display at 16 bit (or 8 bit, depending on your PC) and select ';Manage';.... assuming you know the rest.

If not, in the ensuing window click on ';Device Manager'; and do what you have to do with your ';Display';
If I remember correctly, if an onboard video card is broken.... Well, there's no real solution......

What kind of slots do you have? AGP? PCI-E? Or perhaps all of them are only PCI slots? If only PCI slots, you might be out of luck. If it's AGP or PCI-E. Try putting ANY video card in it. The motherboard usually auto adjusts itself to use the external video card. Then plug the monitor plug to the external video card.

No other choice rather than that.

Although there's a small chance that your actual processor is ruined. It's because when the processor, while if the video card is the problem, the computer will usually beep loudly at least 4 seconds after you turn on the computer.

IF you do not hear ANYTHING (Beeping sounds). Even for a minute after you turn on your computer this means the processor has a problem.
